We are still in monsoon season in Arizona with a few storms but not as much rains as we would like.

This photo shows the skyline of tall buildings and the mountain and horizon with the rain cell and voluminous clouds descending upon the Valley.

Here is a photo of the haboob arriving on the street where our office building is located.

You can see the blue sky getting blotted out with the yellow dust wall as it descends on downtown Phoenix.

At least these dust storms are not that dangerous. They are far safer than hurricanes or tornados.

This photo was taken from the 24th floor of our office building.

Look at the size of the wall of dust compared to the large mountain that the dust is rolling towards.

They call it a haboob.

We have had three this year and I don't ever remember seeing them here before.

I saw this agave plant confronting the storm. It looked elegant with the orange background of the sky.

I am interrupting my photographic study of eggs and nest to show you what the sky and the mountain looked at right behind me while I was photographing the eggs.

It was a weird sky with light on Camelback Mountain but dark sky as the rain was getting ready to pour.

Here is a photo of a monsoon storm arriving in the Valley of the Sun.

We get a lot of monsoons in August. I still want to take photos of lightning strikes but the right moment has not occurred yet.

I was fortunate to capture the color and the rain coming down at sunset.

We are having amazing monsoons in the Phoenix and Scottsdale area.

You can see the rain cells coming down from the sky to the Earth with such great color.

Rain Cloud Over Red Rock

Here is a photo of a rain cloud over the red rock of Sedona.

The weather can change very quickly in Sedona.

We were out hiking on a lovely day and then all of a sudden as we were taking photos of blue sky we saw this rain cloud coming quickly over this red rock mountain. We stayed awhile to photograph the changing sky and then the rain came.

The Blue Stormy Sky With Lone Tree

I like this lone tree living at the red rock on a cliff.

This photo was taking just before the storm started. Although you can see raindrops that had landed on the redrock making spots on the sandstone.

I found this tree and red sandstone near Page, Arizona on Navajo lands. I had to hike back in to find it though.

It is a amazing that a little green bush and small tree can find a way to grow on these red cliffs.
