Photo: Pinal County Courthouse Staircase Landing

This is an iPhone photo from the landing of the staircase in the Pinal County Courthouse that I showed yesterday.  The first half of the staircase rises straight from the main lobby, then it splits in two and each side curves up to a lobby on the second floor.

This photo also shows the segmented ceiling design.

This week we have photos of Ronda, Spain, posted on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.  Ronda is a charming town that is perched on the edge of a ravine.

This is the unusual design of the central staircase in the old Pinal County Courthouse.  The landing a little more than half way up the splits to separate staircases going up each side, creating what looks to me like an angel's wings from this view from the front door.

The wood for this staircase was shipped by rail from the California redwood country in the 1890's.

This is an iPhone photo of the 1891 Pinal County Courthouse in Florence, which has recently been renovated.  Pinal County is located between the Phoenix and Tucson metro areas.

Pinal County is the second fastest growing county in the USA between the 2000 and 2010 census, growing by more than 100% from 180,000 to 375,000 people.  Fortunately, the preserved their old Courthouse when they built a new, larger, modern Courthouse a short distance away.

Tomorrow I will a photo of the spectacular interior staircase in this old Courthouse.
