Photo: Phoeniician Resort Spa Outdoor Lounge

I can't show many photos from the spa at the Phoenecian Resort, of course, because photos would be intrusive to the spa experience.   But the opportunity for this quick iPhone photo presented itself because there was no one in the outdoor lounge area at the time.  People can wait in this area or in the adjacent indoor lounge.

While the iPhone had to be on temporarily to take this photo, the ring was shut off, as a ringing cell phone in the spa would be unthinkable.

This week we are showing photos of the Perito Moreno Glacier in Patagonia, Argentina, on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

Photo: Water Feature

The photos I posted from the last two days were closer photos looking from behind this water feature out to the swimming pool area.  This fountain is located on tone of the bar-snack bar islands within the swimming pool complex at the Phoenician Resort.

This week, in recognition of St. Patrick's Day on Monday, we have posted photos of Dublin, Ireland, on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

Photo: Mystery View, Part Two

I am going to stretch out yesterday's odd shot with a similar photo today, and reveal tomorrow what the scene is that produced these effects.

This week, in recognition of St. Patrick's Day on Monday, we have posted photos of Dublin, Ireland, on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

Photo: Mystery Photo

This photo is a little goofy.  It looks like the scene across the pool is a little out of focus, but that is not the explanation.

I will show more views in the coming days to explain this photo.

This week, in recognition of St. Patrick's Day yesterday, we have posted photos of Dublin, Ireland, on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

Photo: Native American Statue at The Center for Well Being

The spa at the Phoenecian Resort is called the Center for Well Being  At the entrance to it is this sculpture of a Native American.

The Phoenecian Resort is located only a few blocks from our house.  My mother usually gies us a gift certificate at at Christmas so we can go there for a spa day.

Years ago there was an article in the newspaper about the art collection at the Phoenecian Resort.  The County tax assessor did not receive a response to a letter requesting an appraisal of their art for person property tax purposes.  So, the County just used the number that the resort advertised in their promotional materials as the value of the art on the property.

After the tax assessor sent the new tax bill, that go the resort's attention and resulted in an appraisal that was a fraction of the bragging in the marketing materials.

Today is Sunday, so we have new photos posted on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.  This week we are showing photos of Dublin, Ireland in part to commemorate that tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day.

Photo: Golf Green at the Phoenician Resort

This is one of the holes on the Phoenician Resort golf course.  After we have tea at the Phoenician, we like to take a little stroll on what they call their cactus walk.  One of the golf holes has a tea quite a bit higher than the walk, with a short tee shot to this green down below.

If someone has a bad hook and comes up short, they could find themselves in the cactus near this green.  I hope none of the golfers hit the cactus with their swing.

This week we are showing photos Cabra Castle, northwest of Dublin, Ireland, on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.  It is a castle hotel that is a delightful place to stay.

Photo: Barrel cactus buds that look like mini pineapples

The buds of this barrel cactus looked to me line miniature pineapples.  I took this photo on the cactus garden walk at the Phoenician Resort, which we always do after enjoying afternoon tea there.

Today is Sunday, so we have new photos posted on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.  This week we are showing photos of the architecture of Grenada, Nicaragua.

Photo: Photo Lineup at High Tea at the Phoenecian

This is a view of the scene that I showed in yesterday's photo.  Dave and I were enjoying high tea at the Phoenician Resort with four dear friends, as we do every year for their birthdays, and seated near us was a group of young women celebrating a birthday.

One of the mothers at the birthday party took a photo of the group, but their shoes attracted the attention of my camera, as I showed yesterday.

I think high tea at the Phoenician is the best anywhere.  It is far superior to the fabled tea at the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong.  Our friends and I particularly enjoy our favorite server, Wanda, and we successfully ask her to show us photos of her grandchildren.

This week we are showing photos of the animals and a coffee plantation in Tanzania, Africa, on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

Photo: Pool Extraordinaire

It is hot in Scottsdale right now. Sizzling hot.

Most locals are doing "staycations," which applies in the hot summer.

It means locals take a break from their residences and drive to one of our many resorts and stay for the weekend with a special deal. Instead of going on vacation, they stay and take a vacation, which is called a staycation.

People hang at the pool and enjoy the amenities while tourists are out of town because of the summer heat.

As you can see from the photo, the Phoenician has a great pool to enjoy.
