Last weekend we had an impromtu dinner party to celebrate a friend's retirement, and this is a photo of the cake balls that my husband and I made for dessert.
It was our first attempt to make these. After pulverizing the cake and forming them into balls, we melted different colors of icing and drizzled the colors onto the balls to allow the colors to blend as we swirled the balls to create the patters. A closer view is below.
The challenge was to keep the icing fluid because in the low Arizona humidity and in the air conditioning, the icing tended to stiffen. We learned to keep zapping the bowls of icing in the microwave.
We were pleased with the results. We made enough of them that we could eat for ourselves the ones that did not turn out as well.
This week we have photos of Gibraltar posted on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

It is unusual that I get an opportunity to express artistic creativity in food preparation.
Little works of art and tasty too!
These were so much fun to see but, I'm sure they were quite a process to make. I still have two in my fridge!
My my my. Dave has a new career in his sights.
