I thought this might be a creative way to show wood.
I was in Sedona and saw this fascinating pattern on this tree that was made by a termite (or some type of wood bore). I liked the blue sky and Sedona red mountains in the background.
This week, the photos on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site features the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia. If you have not been there yet, you should treat yourself to a preview of a visit on our site. I think you will be pleasantly surprised with its beauty.

great shot with the foreground tree and background rocks
Extraordinary composition and the light was perfect for this impressive place!
I thought it was some curving/paining on the rocks (you know... one that spiritual things...) Well nature does amazing thing.
Great picture as well.
Hi, Julie! This is beautiful, and I like it all the more because as a child I found a piece of wood with just such 'termite' markings.
That was me, Bibi in Belgrade, from a different account!
So these are termite tracks. How extraordinary.
Beautiful shot. But the "them of weed?" I think there must be a typo there.
Such a gorgeous image, Julie. And a creative entry for this month's theme.
A fabulous theme day photo of that "termited" tree! Great Sedona view in the background!
That is an interesting carving on that tree and it adds to the beauty surrounding it.
Once again, beautiful image. Lovely composition.
Very interesting pattern on the wood. Love the photo with the red rock in background.
I thought it was perhaps graffiti but read it's a wood borer. Yes indeed a lovely way to show wood.
Made by critters you say? How interesting, it almost looks like graffiti.
Excellent!
Excellent choice for the theme day - the pattern on the wood is very interesting.
This is such a cool picture!
Fabulous composition, but then the subject itself is fabulous. Great shot!
That pattern is amazing Julie! I enlarged the picture so I could get a closer look. I love Sedona too. It is so beautiful.
The most beautiful designs are so often nature made. It is truly beautiful
The carving in the wood almost looks like a fossil of sorts.
You did a great job with this photo...getting the right light on the tree and still maintaining the light and color in the mountains and sky!
The termite markings look like drawings of trees on the wood... beautiful photo and light.

Amazing photo! I like nature's carvings although the thought of termites gives me the willies :)
That is just gorgeous. When I first looked I thought carvings. Now that I know it was natural, it's even more lovely.

That thunderhead way in the background looks like a fountain of water.

Wow, that design was done by termites? Nice!
Looks like a "starting page" of a book called Life for me.
Brilliant photography. Please have you all a nice Tuesday.
Ah Sedona, one of the most beautiful places on earth in my opinion. Beautiful photo Julie!
Great shot Julie, and much different than most theme day shots.
As always, absolutely perfect!
a stunner, one more time. The richness of color of stone & wood is remarkable.
Gorgeous photo -- love the background.
A old three is like a precious book that tells us a long a and complete story about the nautre and suroundings.
Termites can really be artistic at times. Sorry for the late comment, my laptop got busted. You have a nice blog here.
This photo is absolutely fantastic! Great entry, Julie!
