After the pilot landed our small plane at Grand Canyon West Airport, transferred to a helicopter that shuttled us down to a helipad on the banks of the Colorado River. This is a photo of the helicopter as it lifted off to get some more passengers.
There were three helicopter companies operating at Grand Canyon West, and it looks like they were shuttling people up and down continuously.
While we enjoyed the flight, and it made a trip to the bottom of the Canyon possible in a few minutes rather than a full day hike, I agree with the Park Service's policy of prohibiting helicopters from the National Park. The noise echos in the Canyon.
This week we have photos of the people of Ethiopia posted on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

The photo of the helicopter is nicely framed by cliffs in the distance.
Great shot here!
Great to see you two last night! Another fun evening.
Nice shot. The helicopter and canyon look the same color in this photo.
