Photo: Hibiscus Profile

Here is a side shot of a yellow hibiscus.  Although hibiscus are popular in Phoenix-Scottsdale, they are, of course, not native to the Arizona desert.

Homeowners here often choose between tropical or desert landscaping, or sometimes a mixture of the two.  Hibiscus are part of the tropical landscaping style, as they require a lot of water.  We are phasing out the hibiscus in our yard in favor of plants better suited for the desert.

Today is Sunday, so we have new photos posted on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.  This week we are showing photos of one of the most remarkable buildings anywhere, the Mezquita Cathedral - Mosque in Cordova, Spain.  It has to be seen to be believed.

Gorgeous photo! My lovely hibiscus in my back yard died last winter when we had that freeze. I was sorry to see it go.

Beautiful color on this one. I have one in a pot on the patio. But we'll see if it survives this winter.
