This is another photo of Indian Bend Wash doing its job. Water flows harmlessly over a few roads and is stored temporarily in a green belt flood plain of parks. There is no damage from the flooding, and the community can enjoy the parks, walking and biking trails and golf courses throughout the year.
This week we have posted photos of everyday life and the wildlife of Tanzania on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

This is so much better than the big concrete ditches that they have in L.A. for flood control. I think I read that L.A. is giving some thought to replacing some of the concrete ditches with green belts.
We need the same approach on a larger scale in the Mississippi River flood plain. The water needs somewhere to go, without damage, during seasonal high water periods.
This is a good shot to show how the water is guided across some roads. It works beautifully.
We may have more rain this weekend.
