Photo: Palo Verde Blossoms in Old Town Scottsdale

My first photo in my series on the Old Adobe Mission showed some palo verde blossoms across the street.  This is the location from which I took that photo.  Palo verde is the Arizona state tree.

I took these photos a few weeks ago, as the palo verde trees were ending their blooming season.  You can see in this photo that there are a few yellow blossoms still on the trees, but they have dropped a carpet of yellow on the ground.

To the left of this photo is the parking lot where the Saturday Farmer's Market is held.  In the background is part of the downtown Scottsdale shopping district.

In the foreground is an agave, which will soon die because it has sent up its stalk, although it will likely give birth to a number of "pups" that will grow into new plants.  There are few lumps on the ground beyond the agave, which I will show tomorrow.

This week we have photos of dazzling Bangkok, Thailand  posted on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

I love the late spring when the palo verde blossoms are on the trees and all over the ground.
