Theme Day: Electricity

Navajo Generating Station
Today is theme day and this month it is electricity.

Here is a photo I took of the Navajo Generating Station.

This plant is a major employer and provides electricity for much of Arizona,  but it is very close to the Grand Canyon so some people thinks its emissions cause haze at the Grand Canyon.

I loved getting this photo but then the security guard came and told me that I could not take any more photos as photos were prohibited.  However, it is a great image to photograph so I am glad to share it for theme day.

We have travel photos to share of Abu Simbel in Egypt this week on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

Well done and glad you didn't have to erase your beautifully recorded image. I have run into security issues trying to photograph substations near me so have stayed away from them.

Nice shot, and the blue is amazing!

The idea that we can't take photos of electrical facilities is another post-9/11 idiocy. I read not long ago that the electric industry security regulators are backing off from the no-pictures stance. I guess that didn't reach Arizona yet.
