Rock Tower at Lee's Ferry

Lee's Ferry is what many people think if when they envision Arizona.

The unusual mountains like the one in this photo certainly caught my eye.

This photo of this unique iconic mountain turning into sand reminds me of the Sphinx in Egypt. I wonder how long this mountain will last and how did it retain such an interesting shape.

This does indeed mimic the shape of the rock from which the sphinx was carved.

This evokes the atmosphere that if you waited long enough, you would expect to see a wagon train roll across this scene.

Looking at this I feel a deep thirst. Amazing what you can do with an image.

Geology certainly is fascinating, isn't it? It's a great photo with the beautiful blue sky and clouds behind the rock. PS. Still not back permanently. Stay happy while I'm on sabbatical.

I like the sphinx idea.

So many interesting rock formations in the SW. Hard versus soft rock and lots of erosion. If you like these by Lee's Ferry you should really check out Bryce.

I visited Lee's Ferry on a fishing trip. I must admit my focus was on the scenery rather than the fish. This tower looks great with the sky and mountains in the background.

Lee's Ferry is one of our favorite places to "camp". We have been there in every kind of weather and even when it was flooding. It has a feeling of solitude and beauty that can be seen in this picture.

Beautiful image Julie. It does make you wonder both how large this once was, and how long it will be before it turns back to dust.
