Photo: West Phoenix; This is a desert?

This is a view from my office window, looking west.  The amount of greenery looking across the Phoenix can cause one to overlook the fact that we live in the middle of the Sonoran desert, with 330 days of sunshine and only 7 inches (18 cm) of rain per year.

Tomorrow I will show another view of something in this scene, taking advantage of the 42 times zoom feature on one of our cameras.
