Photo: Theme Day - Silhouette; Butterfly Square

Today's worldwide City Daily Photo Theme is "Silhouette."  I am showing a little different interpretation of a silhouette, as the color does show through.  I took this photo of a monarch butterfly against the screen roof of the butterfly pavilion of the Desert Botanical Garden.  The screen cast shadows that showed through the wings to add additional patterns to the patterns that nature created in the butterfly;s wings.

We all love Spring.

Here is a photo of a butterfly landing on a lantana in our backyard.

Look at the delicate spotted body. It looks like a leopard body.

We are so glad that the flowers are blooming.

This photo shows a butterfly that landed on Dave of Costa Rica Daily Photo's hand.

You can see the butterfly tongue checking out the skin on his hand.

The butterfly seems very calm.

Tomorrow you will see the butterfly open its wings and sit in the sunlight on the hand.

The light made the wings so colorful and the face looks like a mask.

Crazy 88 Butterfly

The Spring Butterfly Exhibit at the Desert Botanical Gardens runs through May 31.  

I really like this photo so I decided to share it to commemorate the mariposas at the Butterfly Pavilion.  We can never get enough of these beautiful creatures.

Nature's Color Symmetry

The Spring Butterfly Exhibit returns to the Desert Botanical Gardens at the Marshall Butterfly Pavilion. The colorful insects will roam free in the pavilion until May 31, 2009.  

This is one of my favorite butterfly photos.  I love the color and the background.  Mariposas are so beautiful.  It is unfortunate that they have such short lives.
