Explosion of Color

This photo shows the center stamen of a reddish cactus flower.

I liked the way the green stigma reaches out towards the sky.

The red delicate petals provide a great background.

This cactus is called echinocereus huitcholensis and originates from Mexico. It is a new cactus in my backyard.

I hope you are enjoying the macro photos on my site this week.

Check out photos of the Hotel Del in Coronado, California at Viva la Voyage!

Your title is very accurate. Such vivid and strong colours. If you like green, the Midwest is for you, but some of your cacti flowers rival some of our lovely spring blooms, too.

By coincidence, we have each posted a close up photo of a red flower today, although yours is much better.

Great macro shot. Very striking colors and I like the contrast of the green stigma against red.
