Clouds and Camelback Mountain

This photo is taken from my master bedroom and focuses on the glorious clouds and sky. It also shows you slice of the beautiful view I see each day of the majestic Camelback Mountain.

The mountain changes colors and is wonderful to see each day from our house.

I thought I would start my nightscapes series with a photo of part of the mountain we climbed last Saturday night to take the night photos we are going to show you over the next few days.

And yes, this is not an easy mountain to hike, but the photos were worth it. It is snake season and I did encounter two snakes on the way down the mountain in the dark, but the photos and experience were worth it.  One was a diamondback rattler who rattled its tail four different times while we were starting to walk down the mountain trail in the dark.

on dirait que les nuages sont aspires par la montagne du fond, de belles couleurs

it looks like the clouds are sucked into the bottom of the mountain, beautiful colors

This is a gorgeous photo. What a view! I love the way you've framed it and that tiny pop of purple flowers in the lower center. How brave you are to hike in the dark with rattlesnakes underfoot. It sounds very Indiana Jones-ish. I can't wait to see the photographs and I'm so glad you lived to tell the tale.

What a magnificent view from your bedroom. I'll look forward to see your nightscapes. And regarding snakes I think caution and high sturdy boots is a very good idea.

BTW Sorry, but you've been tagged:-)

What a beautiful view you have! It's snake season here too and I have seen two in my backyard just in the last week. One of them right under the door!

We Arizonans love clouds. Our skies are solid blue so often that when the clouds arrive, we love to look at them and some of us love to photograph them.

I know this is a family blog, so you did not identify the part of Camelback mountain visible from that angle. That is a view from Scottsdale to the east, and the shape of the camel's head faces Phoenix to the west. Therefore, you are showing the backside of the camel, so the view is up the camel's . . . .

Like the way you framed your view of Camelback Mountain. Better get some boots if you are hiking at night. maybe after this class is finished we will see some rattle snake photos!

Very lovely view! You have a lot of playful animal-clouds, too. Great fun for the imagination!

Julie---you sure have a wonderful view from your back window! I hiked up Camelback Mountain when I stayed at the Camelback Inn in 2007; it was super fun, and for some reason, I got sort of light headed and my then 11 year old son ran circles around me. I think I shoulda had a Dew or something before I tried it. Anyhow, I sure love Scottsdale. Your series of Tali West was enjoyable, and I recall many of those views from my trip there. Thanks for the memories. I envy your locale. CK1

Beautiful shot. The shadow on the hills, the flowers in the foreground. The snakes......well we could do without them.

Beautiful shot but I don't miss the heat. I hear it has been getting warm.
