Photo: Goose getting ready for a take off

Geese share the lakes in Indian Bend Wash and McCormick Ranch with the ducks and other water fowl. The geese are rather aggressive at times.

I like to try to catch the tracks of water fowl on take off and landing, although Dave's son Stuart took this photo when he and Dave went out for a bike ride together and took a little point-and-shoot camera in case they could get some photos to share for my website.

We have photos of the stark landscape of the Atacama Desert of northern Chile this week on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

We don't have loons in Arizona. They are amazing to watch as they seem to run across the top of the water for a long ways before they get airborne.

Dave's son got a great shot here Julie, it's such fun to watch them coming in for a landing! They make quite a commotion.

I love it when to ducks and geese play around in the water like this.

He did a good job with this one. It looks like the goose is doing a skidding landing.
