Here is a rare photo of a praying mantis who moved into a defensive posture when a lizard started approaching the insect.I had no idea that a praying mantis could turn itself into such a large and scary posture.
It almost looks alien. Look at its head and eyes.
And yes, the defensive posture worked and the lizard went away.
I learned that praying mantis are rather strong and even sting and kill hummingbirds when the birds go to feeders.
