Photo: Lovebird Spreading Wings

Look who visited today.

We saw a peach-faced lovebird in the backyard preening on a blue agave cactus.

Look at those colorful feathers.

These birds are very pretty. muy lindo.

What a beauty! Are there lots of these in the wild in your neck of the woods?

I have never seen one of these birds spread his wings like that. It looks like he or she is showing off.

Halcyon, we see these birds in small groups in our yard or trees, but there is a tree two houses away with a bunch of branches that dip close other ground and at dusk there can be 25 or so of these birds gathered together on the branches of the same tree.

How fabulous to see the bird's feathers echoing the Agave. Beautiful.

Very pretty and far more colourful than most of the birds around here in Leeds and further afield too. Though there is a escaped and gone wild parakeet around the village where I live, never got a decent picture though, he is always high in a tree.
