Photo: Blooming Cactus Flowers

The weather has cooled down and we are so glad.

Because the heat is now below 100 degrees for the past couple of weeks, the cactus flowers are starting to bloom.

I woke up and all of these flowers bloomed at once on one of our cactus that I keep in a pot by our front door.

The flowers only last one day. Blink and you miss cactus flowers.

Cactus flowers often seem out of proportion the size of the cactus plant. Perhaps that is whey they are in bloom for such a short time. They would take too much of the resources of the plant to support for a longer time period.

I think I might have played the lottery that day if I had been you.

Beautiful flowers Julie. What a treat to have them at your front door. I've seen some gorgeous blooms in just the past two weeks.

It's really interesting to see all of your cactus flowers. They don't bloom in my climate. These are really lovely!

What a delightful plant as a front door greeting. I like the vertical arms and the red blooms are truly remarkable.
