Brilliant, swirling, spaghetti type glass by Chihuly. This is a close-up of The Sun glass art installed at the Chihuly: Nature of Glass exhibit at the Desert Botanical Gardens. The sun radiates through the individual glass pieces and showcases the textures of the glass. I thought this was perfect for the theme day of glass.

I've been waiting for you to post some more beautiful Chihuly and today you've surpassed yourself. This is a stunner. What an artist he is.
Wow, beautiful! The sun, the colours, great!
I've loved the photos I've seen of this display..it's magical especially with the sun shining through.
I agree. You frame the glass and the sky beautifully. It's like taking a wild ride on the back of the sunlight.
Beautiful shot Julie! I need to go back and get some of the artistic close up shots. I know, it's just an excuse to go back and see it all again.
Great photo. I love blown glass. I've been to the Chihuly factory up in Tacoma. It's amazing.
It is a work of art indeed. Whata wonderful theme for you as you have already feautured the beautiful glass so much. Carry on it's gorgeous.
This close up is fabulous! Thanks to you Arizona CDP-ers, I am totally in love with Chihuly now! Fantastic choice for theme day!
That Chihuly is a candyland for photographers. Thank you for sharing. GLASS is a favorite of ours and our first time participating in theme day. How fun!
Ah, what a treat to see another Chihuly from the exhibit. The theme day was made for you!!
Very nice picture!!
How did I know you would have Chihuly today!! I love the sun burst on the glass.
Suprise Suprise! I was hoping for glass day we would see another Chihuly. This is a great close up. Sharon is right I must go back and look again.
That's a priceless shot...for some reason it reminds me of a merry-go-round with the swirling colors!
Terrific photo. I love the brilliance of the light and color.
This is truly fantastic, Julie! It looks like an abstract painting.
This is a delight. Keep taking us back to the Botanical Gardens . . . please.
I'm got to do some research on Chihuly. This is really beautiful Julie! I love the close-up shot.
Wow! That is beautiful. Wonderful post for today's theme.

Oh I just saw some Chihuly on Atlanta DP! Very cool photo against the blue sky!
P.S...I enjoyed your profile description, your ancestors settling there from covered wagons! (I'm a genealogy nut so I love this stuff :) )
It is perfect! Amazing!
With the spectacular Chihuly photos you have shown in recent weeks, I suspected that you stuffed the ballot box in the voting to select "glass" as the Theme Day for March 1.
If an upcoming theme day is horses, then I will be sure that you have some technique to influence the theme day selection process.
What a beautiful choice for Theme Day! You have a lovely blog. Thank you for visiting mine!
Right, perfect, wonderful forms of glass and great colors.
Gosh! What a stunning shot :) I love the colours and the glare :)
xXx
Lovely, lovely choice!
One of my favourites today :)
Congratulations!
I like the rich colors and translucent quality of this piece and it's displayed perfectly against the blue sky. Excellent!
Very pretty colors and that blue sky beyond! I though Chihuly might show up in several shots today, but yours is the only one I've seen so far. He and his wife go to the same hair solon as me and his workshop is close by. He's one Seattle artist, that has a world-wide audience and draws people in with his amazing installations far and wide. I guess we are all attracted to the color and qualities of glass. Hope you are enjoying a sunny Sunday. . .a bit drippy here this morning :-).

Hi Julie... I came across your blog over at Tanya's 'Around Roanoke' blog. We lived in Arizona and the Phoenix area/Tempe for many years. I love the sights in Arizona but we sure don't miss the heat now that we are back East in Virginia. Just wanted to say hello to the Scottsdale blogger.

Awesome interpretation of the theme.
I immediately recognize the image as Chihuly's work when the photo loaded on my computer. He work is definitely iconic and identifiable.
Beautifully captured.
I like the close-up for the details. Chihuly is just the best.

Perfect for the theme! I love the way the light shines through the glass!
Very good. Could have been a close-up from the local candy store! ;)
Beautiful photo! I did not know of Chihuly glass art before seeing it on your blog. Now I'm fascinated.
That is so cool! It is perfect for the theme day!
Great art. And perfect for theme day. I found 300 Chihuly photos when I looked through my flickr contacts!
superb and fascinating!
It is truly perfect for the theme day and what a wonderful piece of art. Very beautiful.
Wow! the photograph is suberb. I've seen his glass in Tacoma and liked a lot of pieces. These are really amazing and again you've photographed them so well. Very dynamic.
I almost missed this one! Great shot, wonderful light and colors...
I remember Your previous photos of glass decoration, and I was sure the photo for the Theme Day will be very interesting. And it is!
Beautiful..
I regret so much that when he had an exhibit here at the Botanical Garden I did not take pictures at the time...
I really love what he does with glass shapes and colors.
You found a perfect illustration of that theme.
I love Chihuly. Very artistic shot.
