Glass Art by Chihuly

Brilliant, swirling, spaghetti type glass by Chihuly.  This is a close-up of The Sun glass art installed at the Chihuly: Nature of Glass exhibit at the Desert Botanical Gardens.  The sun radiates through the individual glass pieces and showcases the textures of the glass.  I thought this was perfect for the theme day of glass.

I agree. You frame the glass and the sky beautifully. It's like taking a wild ride on the back of the sunlight.

Beautiful shot Julie! I need to go back and get some of the artistic close up shots. I know, it's just an excuse to go back and see it all again.

That Chihuly is a candyland for photographers. Thank you for sharing. GLASS is a favorite of ours and our first time participating in theme day. How fun!

Oh I just saw some Chihuly on Atlanta DP! Very cool photo against the blue sky!

P.S...I enjoyed your profile description, your ancestors settling there from covered wagons! (I'm a genealogy nut so I love this stuff :) )

With the spectacular Chihuly photos you have shown in recent weeks, I suspected that you stuffed the ballot box in the voting to select "glass" as the Theme Day for March 1.

If an upcoming theme day is horses, then I will be sure that you have some technique to influence the theme day selection process.

I like the rich colors and translucent quality of this piece and it's displayed perfectly against the blue sky. Excellent!

Very pretty colors and that blue sky beyond! I though Chihuly might show up in several shots today, but yours is the only one I've seen so far. He and his wife go to the same hair solon as me and his workshop is close by. He's one Seattle artist, that has a world-wide audience and draws people in with his amazing installations far and wide. I guess we are all attracted to the color and qualities of glass. Hope you are enjoying a sunny Sunday. . .a bit drippy here this morning :-).

Hi Julie... I came across your blog over at Tanya's 'Around Roanoke' blog. We lived in Arizona and the Phoenix area/Tempe for many years. I love the sights in Arizona but we sure don't miss the heat now that we are back East in Virginia. Just wanted to say hello to the Scottsdale blogger.

Beautiful..
I regret so much that when he had an exhibit here at the Botanical Garden I did not take pictures at the time...
I really love what he does with glass shapes and colors.
You found a perfect illustration of that theme.
