Photo: Grand Canyon Skywalk

This photo shows the Grand Canyon Skywalk at the top left, which has a glass floor and a view straight down a sheer cliff about 500 - 800 feet (150 - 240 m), and further down to the Colorado River, which is 3.600 ft. (1,100 m) below the Rim.  The river is visible in this photo.

We did not go out on the Skywalk.  It costs about $30 each, and the view is about the same from the rim, other than not being able to look straight down.

Also, they do not allow cameras on the Skywalk.  Visitors have to go through a metal detector like an airport.  I guess that was necessary to prevent people from throwing things.

The Skywalk is controversial.  I will show a closer photo and provide more information tomorrow.

Today is Sunday, so we have new photos posted on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.  In keeping with the Christmas season, we are showing photos of the spirituality of Nicaragua, taken last year during the holidays.

This is one place I've never been but, I don't think I'd spend $30.00 to walk out there without my camera.
