Photo: Colorado River at the Bottom of the Grand Canyon

After taking the helicopter down to the river, we boarded a pontoon boat operated by the Havasupai Tribe and travelled a short distance up the river, and then floated back down.

This was a very different, and tame, river float than the 10-day raft trip that I took through the Canyon last year.  But, on the other hand, it is the only way visitors can have an experience on the river in a short amount of time.

The Canyon walls are not as deep here as they are further upstream, but the Canyon is nevertheless very impressive.

This week we have photos of the people of Ethiopia posted on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

Looks like you could throw in a line and catch a fish.
