Last evening we enjoyed a concert by Quetzal Guerrero and his band at the Desert Botanical Garden. Here is a link to his website, which includes videos of some of his performances. He debuted his compositions from his brand new CD last evening.
Quetzal grew up in Mesa, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix. His parents are the very talented and charming Zarco and Carmen Guerrero, both community and artistic leaders in Arizona. Quetzal now lives in Los Angeles, where he moved to pursue his career in music.
The concert was a sell out, as Quetzal's vibrant mix of Latino, Brazilian, and contemporary American music is popular and energizing. Many people in the audience were dancing by the end of the concert.
We enjoy the Friday evening Music in the Garden series of concerts at the DBG. It is a an outdoor cabaret atmosphere, with food, beverages and music surrounded by magnificent desert plants, some of which are illuminated at night.
This week we are showing photos of the remarkable street art of Valparaiso, Chile, on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.
