Photo: Cactus with a Mohawk hairdo, wider view

This is a wider shot to show the rest of the cacti that I showed yesterday, which has the strange orange hair growing near the top.

I assume that the orange hair is a seasonal growth that is the equivalent of flowers or seeds and that the rest of the year the cactus has a more normal top.  I will have to walk by this trail in the Desert Botanical Garden at other times of the year to check.

This week we have photos of the cathedral of Milan, Italy posted on our on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

The diversity of nature is amazing, even within the narrow world of cacti.
