Photo: Camelback Mountain Rescue

A moment after I started taking photos of the helicopter hovering, I noticed that a person started dangling from the helicopter.  This was not visible to the naked eye from our backyard about a mile or so away, but revealed itself through the 42x telephoto lens.

If you look closely, you should be able to see that there is a person hanging below this helicopter.  Thhis rescue operation must require extraordinary skill by both the person hanging and by the pilot.

During the next few days I will show more photos and present more information about this Thanksgiving Day rescue operation.

This week we have photos of the the monks and ancient temples of Cambodia posted on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

That has to require a lot of training and bravery to climb out of a helicopter and dangle down to steep mountain terrain.

I can see that person very well thanks to your steady hand and long lens.
