Photo: Shrines to carry

The flower box that I showed yesterday and the day before is not the only shrine that parishioners may carry in the square in front of the chapel.  If you look closely as these statues of Our Lady of Guadalupe, you will see that they are mounted on poles to enable the statues to be carried.

This concludes my little series about Guadalupe.  It is a unique place that adds to the diversity of the area and reminds us of the long roots of the Latino community in Arizona.

We are showing photos of the animals of Africa this week on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.

Nice little series. I'm struck by how colorful the flowers and statues are.

This has been a good series. I lived in the Phoenix area for many years before going to Guadalupe, as most of the metro area zooms past it on the freeway, without taking the time to explore this little community so rich in culture and tradition.

Sometimes these stretchers are very decorated too.
This series was fun to watch.
