Photo: Pascua Yaqui Native American Community

This tile mosaic sign is on a wall leading into a cul de sac that is an enclave of the Pascua Yaqui Native American Community in South Scottsdale.  That's right.  We have a Native American community within Scottsdale, in addition to the large Salt River Pima Maricopa Native American community that forms much of the Eastern border of Scottsdale.

The Pascua Yaqui community has a fascinating history and culture.  I will share more of it during the days ahead.

Today is Sunday, and we have new photos on our   Viva la Voyage travel photo site.  This week we are featuring photos of Golden Bangkok, Thailand.  Its elaborate temples are architectural treasures.

It is very worthwhile that the Pascua Yaqui people have maintained cultural identity as a small enclave within the large Phoenix-Scottsdale metropolitan area.

They were here before Scottsdale developed.
