Photo: Lovebird in a Tree

Our lovely wild peach-faced lovebirds are out again.

We love to hear and see them.

And, last night I had an amazing wildlife experience. I was working at my desk in my home office and heard a loud "whooooo, whoooo."

The sound was loud. I had heard it before. The owl was back.

I left all of the lights off and went outside and there was a big owl perched in my tall mesquite tree.

He was staring at prey: the rabbits that are everywhere. It was very dark. The owl silently left the tree and opened its large wings and flew down to the ground and grabbed a bunny and flew down the road and away. I felt like I was watching a nature show.

it's amazing to have an experience like that, isn't it. you won't soon forget the sensations you felt as you watched the power and pain of hunter and prey.

Oh my, that is quite a rare nature experience to happen right outside your door!

OK, so why didn't you get a photo of the owl snatching a bunny at night?

Watching nature at work is an amazing experience. When I was walking along the coast path today, I noticed a Peregrine Falcon hovering getting ready, I stopped to watch just as he did a full on straight down dive to get something in the water, was stunning!!

Wow, this is really rare. You were lucky the owl didn't fly away when you came out.

He's very pretty. Looks kind of wise, for some reason.

Oh ! how nice to see him free - just saw a couple over here being sold in a cage.
Please have you all a good new month.

That sounds like a great experience. I didn't realize you saw so much in Arizona, like these love birds. I just have possum, raccoons, deer and skunks to watch for around my place.
