Photo: Mummy Mountain

This photo shows houses in Paradise Valley, some of them creeping up the side of Mummy Mountain. I took this photo from Camelback Mountain. Camelback and Mummy Mountains form the heart of Paradise Valley, which is a small suburb of 14,000 residents tucked between Scottsdale and Phoenix.

Mummy Mountain offers prime views of Camelback. The late Leona Helmsley had a grand house high on Mummy Mountain. She was in the news again this week because her dog, to whom she left $12 million in her will (reduced by a Court to $2 million) passed away this week, after evidently being very well cared for. I don't know if the dog had a will.

Other residents of Paradise Valley include Muhammed Ali, Mike Tyson, other athletes and celebrities, and Phoenix area business people and trust fund babies.

Today is Sunday, so we have new photos posted on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site. This week we return to the shores of Lake Como, Italy, to share with you the gardens of the Villa Melzi. It is a very special place and captures the atmosphere that shows why they named a casino in Las Vegas after its location -- Bellagio.

I would prefer that they leave the heights of Camelback and Mummy Mountains in their natural state rather than scraping the landscape for houses with views.

Great shot and information although we have to agree with Dave; it seems like an place best left alone.

The view is great in both directions! But, like Dave, I hate to see them excavating on the side of the mountain to build another McMansion!

Probable pretty pricey properties. (I think that's a tongue twister)
