Theme Day: Transportation

Here is a photo of our local Scottsdale Trolley, which operates in the Old Town Scottsdale area.

Tourists and locals can get on and enjoy the sights and different activities occurring in downtown Scottsdale, from music, museums, farmer's market, shopping, galleries, restaurants and more.

Cool, I'd love that as a complement to walking!

I think that the trolley is the only vehicle allowed on what would otherwise be exclusively the pedestrian bridge that connects the Scottsdale Waterfront project with the Southbridge project and Old Town. There are big steel posts that block vehicles, but the trolley drivers must have a button that causes the posts to drop into the curb, and then to rise back up after the trolley has passed over them.

I love taking these trolley and bus rides around unfamiliar cities. It's a great way to get your bearings.

I wonder if the driver makes announcements about what riders are seeing out the windows.

It looks very interesting -- was the trolley body projected especially for Scottsdale? The windows suggest towns architecture.

These sort of buses are a great idea for new visitors to a city and to locals as well. Is a trolley a tram?

Great Theme Day post. Mine is up on November 1 at Portland Oregon Daily Photo; it’s a photo that I took on the Portland, Oregon, MAX Light Rail last Saturday.
