Photo: Mirrored Hornets

Today's photo is one I took of Chihuly's art work when he had his installation at the Desert Botanical Gardens.

These were called Mirrored Hornets.

They are eye catching, especially sitting in the desert rock. Quite a contrast.

I guess the heads, bodies and wings are supposed to have burrowed into the ground and only the tail is visible. While I have no doubt that Chihuly could have made the rest of the hornets, it would have been too much realism for the rest of the exhibit.

I liked these and I thought they were well placed in the garden.

These are so unusual. Beautiful color.

From the thumnail I thought they were actually a plant. I wouldn't have been surprised - your desert vegetation all looks very exotic to me.
