Pincushion Flowers

Here is a macro photo of the pincushion flowers that are generally part of the ring of flowers, which I have previously posted.

The flowers are tiny and delicate. You can see the pollen on the flower petals.

Shot this way, it looks as if the flowers have been woven into a basket of thorns. Nice one, Julie.

This photo is even more impressive when one considers that it takes about four of these flowers to cover a space the size of a dime.

Amazing something so prickly produces something so pretty. Nice capture.

Beautiful shot but isn't it scary when flowers surround themselves with hypodermic needles?

I love these tiny little flowers that make a sort of ring around the cactus. When in full bloom, the cactus looks like it has a crown on!
