Circle of Flowers

And here is my favorite pincushion cactus with its popular circle of pink flowers.

How does it do that?

This cactus blooms occasionally and then it has this ring of flowers and it is a perfect ring. Nature is amazing.

This is like a crown of flowers on a head of thorns.

Or a pink halo.

That is certainly a different kind of flower than what we have around here.

Hi, Julie!
There are so many Mammillaria species that simply do look alike, but I think these I previouly posted might eventually be the same: http://mendoncajose1.blogspot.com/2009/03/mammillarias-are-blooming.html

That IS amazing. I don't think I've seen a cactus like that. I agree that it looks like a crown or halo.
