White Oleander Flower

Here is a close-up photo of a white flower that many of us in Scottsdale and Paradise Valley see regularly.

This is a white oleander flower. I like the squiggly lines. It looks like a white sun in the center of the flower.

Oleanders are plants and are grown everywhere in Scottsdale and Paradise Valley. They are used as a privacy barrier between homes.

Oleanders grow very tall and are very thick. They are very green but do produce lots of blossoms. I have white and fuscia pink blossoming oleanders in my backyard.

Beautiful. And do they have a scent, Julie?

Oleanders have a wonderful sweet scent. We have a few around here, but most grow farther south.

You neglected to mention that the grow fast and need trimming frequently. When cut, the stalks ooze a white, milky sap that irritates the skin.

Oleanders keep lots of gardeners employed, as they would grow more than 30 feet (10 meters) tall if left untrimmed.

It has a spiral look to the petals from center.

Gorgeous close up of such a pretty flower. You wouldn't expect something so beautiful to be so easy to grow.

I have hear of them and I've heard they smell wonderful. I'd imagine they wouldn't do well in our climate here in the Pacific Northwest.

It really is a perfect photo and I wonder if "White Oleander" herself has seen it?

We grow oleanders here but I've never seen one so beautiful - with the white centre. I seem to think the white ones I've seen have a different colour centre. Perhaps my memory isn't working - not in flower at the moment, of course.
