Duck Swimming in the Lincoln Memorial's Reflection

If you had not seen yesterday's photo, would you know where this photo was taken? In the early morning stillness of the reflecting pool, the glide of a duck penetrates the reflected facade of the Lincoln Memorial.

I read a little news item recently that the depiction of the Lincoln Memorial in the future will no longer be featured on the back of the penny coin. The penny will still have Abraham Lincoln on the front, but the back will be a shield design by a Santa Fe artist.

Check out photos of Murano, Italy at Viva la Voyage!

I don't think I would have known, immediately, that this was the monument if I hadn't seen yesterday's post. I think Dave needs to get up and go out with his camera at dawn every day.

Did you see the duck and take this shot, or did you take the shot and later notice the duck? The rest is so beautiful, that I'm afraid I wouldn't have seen the duck -- nice shot.

Memphis MOJO,
To answer your question, I did indeed see the duck. In fact, I waited patiently for a duck to swim into the middle of the reflection of the Lincoln Memorial so I could get the duck in the midst of the reflection based on the angle of where I was standing. I did not quite get him where I wanted, but it was close.

Actually, there were a group of ducks, and they are barely visible in the photo that Julie posted yesterday.

Thank you for your comment. I hope that you enjoy tomorrow's photo. It is our favorite of this series.
