Sand Dunes and Mountains

One last look at a photo of the spectacular red mountains and sand dunes.

The sand dunes were a special place that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I learned so much on this photography tour and improved my skill sets tremendously.

I have a lot more to learn but have also gained so much from enjoying all of the photos and techniques shared by fellow city daily photo bloggers. Thanks to all for your comments and your tips!

This photo needs to be enlarged to be appreciated. While the photo captures the sand dune at the moment you were there, I wonder if the sand dune is in the process of growing or receding. Will it fill up the space next to the rocks? THe ridge of the sand dune does not look stable and it looks like the sand could just shift and slide and bury those plants.

For me it's the contrast of textures that stands out in this image. And how those contrasts are almost reconciled in the tiny area where there are fallen rocks and plants.

I love how the sands shift and change. Plus the texture almost like silk. Nice capture of the contrasting shapes.

Spectacular is the perfect word Julie!

I agree with a couple of the others. This photo really speaks of the difference in textures, hard vs soft, rough rock vs silky smooth sand. Dave is right though, you could come back in a day or two and things could change. Nice shot Julie.

Fantastic contrast! I think I've allready said this, but this red rock desert photo collection is truly outstanding, Julie! You've done a terrific work!

In my opinion this photography could have also been called 'past, present and future' -
wondering how long it takes for a rock to become sand.
Wishing you a Wednesday filled with much enjoyable time.

Hard to beat this for just plain physical beauty. I was wondering if it is very hard to walk on the sand dunes...

I really like the cliffs, though, with their many "faces."
