Lizard at Vermillion Cliffs Lodge

Here is a photo of a cute little lizard.

He is brightly colored and checking out the scenery as I sat at happy hour at Lee's Ferry lodge watching the sunset at Vermillion Cliffs.

You may need to enlarge the photo to enjoy the detail.

Also, we have Tahiti photos up at Viva la Voyage!

You are right, this does need to be enlarged to appreciate the lizard. Its scales seem to be arranged in rings that run around its body. That coloration and pattern looks more like what one would seen on a snake than a lizard.

I love his colors. I would have looked right past him I am sure.

At least he was nice enough to let you take his photo. :)

I did enlarge it and he has some gorgeous colors going on! He also looks a little angry.

Nice shot of the lizard, and, yes, I'd buy insurance from him.

All the desert lizards are interesting, some moving faster than others. This side-blotched is excellent. Did it do pushups for you?

The colors on this lizard are really amazing. We have so many interesting and colorful lizards we don't get to see unless we are in the desert looking.

Did you ask him "Why so serious?"
It's amazing how he can have such beautiful coloring, and still sort of blend into the surrounding.

A spiny lizard from the iguana family. From orange we switch here to blue and green. Very nice.

What kind of lizard? I've seen lots of Gila Monsters in Arizona; in fact, one ran over my foot one time!

Yikes!
