The Log

I think this is one of the best photos I took in the slot canyons.

I like the contrast of the red sandstone with the dark log and the sunlight glowing lightly from behind it.

Tomorrow you will see how high in the air the log is that is stuck in the red sandstone and was placed there by swirling water.

The Secret Canyon, on Navajo lands, was quite a place to visit as a photographer. As a photographer, I am learning to see Arizona all over again through the lens of a camera.

For those interested in going on a photography tour to hone your skills with the camera, check out Wilson Wyatt Studios

It's so interesting, Julie. You know Arizona intimately, you've known it since childhood, and yet you are seeing it with new eyes as you look through your lens. This is a good way to approach a subject. Your first experience of it is not through a lens and so you have a greater context for it. You convey that to those of us fortunate enough to see your photography.

Another beautiful photo. We both have natural red rock posted today. Your's more remote, mine right in the heart of Phoenix.

I saw a lot of big trees and even a boulder wedged in at Buckskin Gulch slot. Sure puts in perspective just how much water can flow through what seems like dry dead desert. Nice capture with great contrasts. I'm guessing 30-40 feet off the canyon floor.

You neglected to mention (and perhaps the omission was on purpose), that if you click on the link to the Wilson Wyatt photo tours website that you provided, on the home page is a photo of your photo tour in the slot canyon, with you standing the second from the front. It looks like a nice group enjoying your photo tour.

I am so impressed with all of these shots, Julie. Truly, they are works of art and I believe would be very appropriate to hang in any Southwest museum! Maybe in Scottsdale?

You are right Julie. This is probably your best of this series. This would look so good framed.

la couleur est surprenante, voir même irréelle, superbe

Julie, you're killing me with these photos. Each and every one is fantastic, and show one of the top priorities on my to-do list during the next US trip.
