Here is a gorgeous Harris Hawk. Harris Hawks are birds of prey, and they occasionally swoop in my backyard to go after a bunny. This hawk is being rehabilitated at Liberty Wildlife, a rescue program of wild animals such as hawks, eagles, owls, and more.
Liberty Wildlife is phenomenal. They have a dispatch number to call if there are any dangerous wildlife encounters or injured wildlife. You can call them at 480.998.5550 for assistance.
My secretary volunteers each week for four hours to handle calls regarding emergencies involving wild animals. Now we all call her when we have an issue with an animal at our homes or at work. I am not sure she likes that, but she tolerates all of us doing so.

People who volunteer at animal shelters are usually kind, gentle, and sensitive folks. They have my admiration. Those who harm animals however are dastardly!
I saw some Harris Hawks on my Thursdays trip. (Well, it was a kind of ZOO...)

Magnificent bird! We have a similar wildlife organization here and I have called them on several occasions.
This bird has a very intelligent look about him.

In Julie's absence I will clarify that the draperies are not at the Liberty Wildlife Center. The hawk was being rehabilitated at the the wildlife center, but the photo was not taken at the center. Liberty Wildlife Center had a booth at function that Julie attended, and she took the photo there.
Liberty Wildlife Center takes some of their animals to schools and community events to showcase the work that they do, to increase awareness for animal conservation and protection, and (I presume) to seek volunteers and donations.
What a magnificent bird. A good thing that it and the other wild animals are taken into care when injured.

What a majestic bird. I bet it' s pretty good at catching its prey.
I am so grateful for these people who assist birds and other creatures that have been hurt, often by humans...there's an bird rehab center at Silver Springs Park which does a great job, too.
Magnificent creatures. We humans need to do whatever we can to help insure their survival.
