Shopping in Old Town Scottsdale

This photo shows the colorful and inviting shops to stroll through in Old Town Scottsdale.

There are shade structures through most of Old Town Scottsdale so you can enjoy the afternoon, look for gifts and Southwest art or Native American jewelry, and stop at a cafe for lunch or dinner.

Oftentimes, there is live music from a Peruvian band on one of the street corners in front of Bischoff's store. You can also take a carriage ride through the streets of Old Town, which has a Western style and feel. Tourists love to walk through this area and the adjacent Scottsdale Mall, which is an outdoor area.

Don't you wonder what archaeologists will make of this when they excavate Old Town Scottsdale a thousand years from now? It looks so much like ancient rows of shops. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Peruvian music? Would that be the Pan flute?

I saw a cowboy on a horse, strumming a guitar and singing on one of the street corners about two weeks ago.

It is nice that you an walk around old town Scottsdale and shop in unique, locally owned stores and eat in unique, locally owned restaurants, without the omnipresence of the national chains that have homogenized so much of the country.

We didn't make it to Old Town on our last visit to the area - drat. It's always a great place to buy gifts to stow away for holidays and birthdays.

What an oasis that must be! Eventhough Athens does have an 'old city' it is mostly packed with cars, motorbikes etc., demanding all attention. Thank you once again for showing a place were things seem to be different.

Shopping is my favorite pastime. Not so much the spending part though.
