Mirrored Hornets

This glass art creation by Chihuly is called "Mirrored Hornets."

They appear to be designed to look like agave cactus growing out of the ground. They mix in well in one of the cactus gardens at the Desert Botanical Gardens.

Chihuly's: Nature of Glass art exhibition at the Desert Botanical Gardens ends tomorrow. I have taken many photos to place on my site during the next year.

Click Chihuly below to see more photos and don't forget to click the older posts as well under the Chihuly label.

This is neat. I can't imagine what inspired the artist but I am glad something did.

The Chihuly exhibit seems such a part of the Desert Botanical displays that it will be a transition to get used to the garden without the Chihuly art interspersed with the plants.

For some reason these remind me of something I once saw in a science fiction movie.

Lovely! I like the contrast of the glass art and the organic setting.

Eventhough there are a few hornets flying around here during summer, and I am really afraid of them, would love/dare to take a walk through your garden.
Please have a nice start into the new week/month.

This looks really strange to me. I'm probably going to be the only one who doesn't like this as much as all the other Chihuly you've already shown us. Having said that, I still think it looks far better than most modern art! Have a great weekend!

Very interesting, and I agree with a couple of previous commenters about looking prehistoric or from science fiction. This is quite a departure from previous works by Chihuly, isn't it? All I remember is very expensive chandeliers.
