Here is the Scottsdale Civic Center Library. You can see the McDowell Mountains in the background behind the palm trees.And yes, that is a big quill pen statue in front of the library. It is rather cool looking.
The Scottsdale Civic Center Library has over 800,000 items and circulates over 2 million items pr year. It is located at the Civic Center Mall.
The architect was Bennie Gonzales, who designed the majority of Scottsdale's municipal buildings, including city hall. He was recognized with over 131 architectural design awards.

A nice library and I love the quill. Puts it in the right perspective.
Hopefully young people today are not becoming so attached to computers that they are missing out on the traditions, reading programs, and experience of browsing the shelves and finding a comfortable chair in which to read at the library.
Beautiful shot. You have some really nice weather there and the mountains are beautiful in the background. Patty and I used to go to nearby Lewisburg, Ohio and there along I-70 was a restaurant with a huge buffalo out front. The food was so-so, but the view out over the valley was just mesmerizing.
Sadly, as in any business, the owners get greedy and begin to imagine making lots of money so they begin to make cuts. A little less of this and that and the good waitresses are let go for a dozen teenagers in heat, and before long the place is sold and then the doors are closed in bankruptcy. Now it is totally gone and only a cement slab remains.
The view is still there though.
This is a beautiful design for a library. The roof line is like an open book. And you've captured the city in the valley below and those exquisite mountains in the background. Rich shot, Julie.

Great view of the library. I have visited that library on my trip to Phoenix and Arizona.
I can never resist visiting a library when traveling. Unlike Cheers in Boston, they may not know your name but everyone is usually helpful and friendly.
