Full Moon Over Scottsdale

Here is the gigantic full moon just rising over the horizon. I love it when the moon looks oversized when it first rises at the horizon.  And then, the moon quickly goes to its normal size. Supposedly this is an optical illusion, but here is the moon larger than life.

Our full moon photography class did give us tips that we used during this nightime photo series. This photo is unretouched and just as we took it.

We have one more night photo to share with you tomorrow.

Keep in mind we then had to climb down Camelback Mountain at night and dance with a snake on the rocky path going down. Luckily, we did not get stung by any scorpions either.  We did see the magical bats at nightfall flying just above and around our heads. I think bats are fascinating and don't mind them at all.

Julie, this is a fabulous shot. The details of that golden moon are extraordinary. And you can even see the painting on the wall inside an apartment in the foreground. Wow. Amazing range. As for bats, have you ever had one in the house?

Another stunner. We sure don't have the "wildlife" to contend with that you do.

Being born in a full moon night, made me a fan of such nights. Mostly I do spend them awake, reading, thinking etc. using his light, which many times shows what a day wasn't able to present.

Very nice big moon photo. I don't envy that night trek down the mountain but the view must be worth it.

That is simply a magnificent photo! You must have some dust or smoke in the air to get the moon that color...wonderful shot in every way.

This should definitely be framed and hanged and sold in every tourist trap in Phoenix and environs!

Julie: How I remember these big full moons when I was there! I felt that I could almost reach up and touch them!
Great photo! I've yet to master night shots.
I almost climbed Camelback but never got around to it..next year!
(I had been training for it doing smaller challenges..2050 ft. was my last)Whew..
anyhow..I enjoyed many a lunch at Camelback Inn!

I had a sad experience with full moon when I first tried to photograph it. I thought if we come closer to it, it's gonna be seen bigger which turned out to be the opposite of it.
I love this one, the sky is dark, makes the moon and city lights more shining.
