Southwest Door in Old Town Scottsdale

I was walking the streets of Old Town Scottsdale and I saw this door right next to the Mission restaurant and it was gorgeous.  The southwestern detail and wood carvings are wonderful.  I take a lot of photographs of architectural details in whatever country I happen to be traveling.

I particularly enjoy doors and windows with character. They can evoke a different era and ambiance.

I have passed by this location so many times for so many years and never saw this door until I was walking to my car from the Mission restaurant. A close up of the door is below.

It is remarkable how we see things differently when driving in the car as compared to walking on the street, where we really see all of the details of where we are and what is before us.

Check out the other participants for Arizona theme day.

Many of us share a fascination with doors. Not only are they aesthetically interesting, but they are so symbolic of our longing to explore the unknown. Even the fact that our thumbnails at this site are referred to as "portals" indicates how much we love going up to unknown doorways and entering the space and the story of them.

I echo your sentiments regarding doors. When I lived in New England, I used to love walking just to see them. These, however, rival any I saw there.

Taking pictures does help you to see more of the everyday things.

I'm a door lover, too. This is magnificent. And you're right about walking vs. riding. Even riding a bike is less helpful than walking when it comes to photography.

Not only is the door amazing, but so is the sash around and above it. Great choice.

Beautiful looking doorway. I find doors fascinating, as I have been doing doorways on Wednesdays for over a year now. Nice to see others posting door pictures too.

Very charming!

Wish I could see more doors and windows here, but most houses in Manila are surrounded by privacy walls. I guess I can do gates…

You can't find that in a big box store, it's an enchanting work of art, perfect for your theme day.

Nice shot of a nice doorway. The only way to see a city is on foot as you have remarked. I always wonder what is behind these doors and windows, and I can't pass a beautiful one without photographing it. After I took up photographing I've started to notice the details around me too. It's quite a revelation:-)
