White Belugas and Cactus

There are many variations of glass art in the Chihuly: The Nature of Glass exhibit at the Desert Botanical Gardens.  This one is called White Belugas.  It was difficult to photograph and the angles directly in front of the exhibit did not give a beautiful or unique view of this installation.  I think this angle is the best perspective.  It has the shadows and light at the end of the day, it has color and texture from the wall, it has cactus, and the glass shapes take the form of art from this particular angle.  It is whimsical but also has a Southwest feel also.   I hope you enjoy it.

My impression on the portal and here was that these were the white flowers of cactus or perhaps hosta. They are a reminder of something but I am not able to put my finger on it.

Like Abraham Lincoln, I have also been thinking that these white glass bulbs remind me of something but I have not quite been able to makethe connection.

Here's what I think it is. If these were smaller and round rather than elongated in shape, they would look like black widow eggs. When walking around a garden or the desert in Arizon, if I see a white shere I immediately think to stay away because there will be a black widow nearby.

This is a great shot Julie. You are so right. This is a tough one to photograph. I have taken at least three pictures of it and haven't got the right angle yet.

My shot of these didn't turn out well either. Good work on a difficult subject.

You can count me as the third person who photographed these Chihuly glass art but who did not capture an angle or photo as good as your photo today.

White belugas, so funny! I do like this little glass art series.
Thank you for being one of my followers. Your little photo on my blog makes the way to here shorter and coming here is like to go on another planet to me!
Have a nice Sunday.

Funny round about connection with Dale C's piece being named after a whale (except my earlier whale/art post was on blue whales).

I think these make you think of lots of different things. We get berries in the UK called snow berries - small round a white, and these somehow remind me of giant elongated ones - and perhaps of other things too.

This is a fascinating piece of glass art - simple, yet unusual, and very thought provoking!

Truly a splendid image :)

His work is amazing. In the thumbnail you don't know if you are looking at glass or something real. I love Chihuly as you know.
