Here is a photo of one of my favorite cactus flowers that recently bloomed after the monsoon rainstorm.

There is a lot of humidity in the air in monsoon season so the cactus can pull moisture from the air.

The colors really make the property special. They use rose colored plaster, bold blue and yellows and then the fabulous landscaping with pink bougainvilleas.

This is the lovely patio where you can enjoy the most amazing foods.

It faces a lovely green croquet field so you can play and the ping pong ramada is in this large courtyard as well.

Here is a vibrant cactus flower from my backyard right after the last rain storm.

Many of you have asked about the dust storm we had in this area two weeks ago. We were in Costa Rica so we missed the experience but had to deal with the aftermath of dust very deep everywhere.

The layers of dirt in the pool have taken a full two weeks to get out of the pool.

The yard and plants and truly everything have layers of dirt on them. the you tube videos of the bizarre sandstorm are so unique and well captured. I have never heard of anything thing like this and have lived here my whole life.

The ping pong ramada is a very fun place to hang around.

The roof is made of palm fronds, right out of the Southwest.

Arizona Inn Doorway

Continuing with my series from the Arizona Inn, here is a photo of one of its doorways. The Inn has so many delightful architectural and decorative touches that it is a pleasant activity just to walk around the gardens nad grounds of the Inn to admire its details.

The Inn is located in central Tucson, very close to the University of Arizona. In fact, it is just 5 or 6 blocks from the University Medical Center, which was featured prominently and tragically on the news six months ago, as the UMC medical staff provided such remarkable care for Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and other victims of the terrible shooting.

The area near Elgin and Sonoita is quite pretty and the wind was blowing so I was able to get a photo of the flag in front of these beautiful fields of tall grass.

This is the front entrance to this lovely Arizona icon.

Isabella Greenway started the Arizona Inn in 193o, during the depression as a way to employ veterans who built fabulous furniture for the resort.

Isabella Greenway was very close to Eleanor Roosevelt and married a Rough Rider or two.

Isabella was also Arizona's first congresswoman.
