Photo: Lewis Black, in Black and White

If you pardon my pun, this photo of Lewis Black is a study in black and white.  It is also a demonstration of the limitations of an iPhone camera.

Last Saturday night we went to see Lewis Black, the comedian who at times is on The Daily Show, at the Orpheum Theater.  They did not make an announcement about no cameras, so my husband took a very quick iPhone photo when Lewis Black walked out on stage.

Dave's iPhone is set on HDR so that it can accommodate a wider range of light conditions, but it obviously could not handle the contrast between Lewis Black and the dark curtain behind him.  He was dressed in a black suit with a black shirt, but the spotlight on him washed out his figure in contrast to the dark curtain behind him.

The photo captured this image, which has its own sense of style, so I decided to post it anyway.

Today is Sunday, so we have new photos posted on our Viva la Voyage travel photo site.  This week we are showing photos of the people of he Sepik River, Papua New Guinea.

  1. Unfortunately, the political climate in Arizona gave Lewis Black a lot of material with which to work for his comedy routine.
