Camelback Mountain is the most prominent landmark in Phoenix/Scottsdale.  This is  view from the McDowell Mountains across North Scottsdale to Camelback.

The preservation of the McDowell Mountain Preserve is a major issue for Scottsdale, as it is also prime real estate for residential construction, and much of the land is State Trust Land.
