Photo: Pricklyh Pear Cactus

This is typical of the scenery that one sees when hiking around Sedona.  Prickly pear cactus grows in the shadows of the pinon pine, with a tower of red rocks nearby.

    Hikes around Sedona are enjoyable not only for the red rock scenery, but also for the closer views of the high desert vegetation.
